As a socially responsible company Exact Furniture is making a concerted effort to only source wood products from environmentally conscious North American suppliers.

The melamine Exact uses in our products is a composite material made from recycled and/or recovered materials. The fibers used to make melamine would otherwise be burned or thrown into landfill so they allow us to make better use of our valuable natural wood resource and optimize the use of each tree. By using these waste fibers to make products such a melamine, the manufacturers of composite material are able to use almost 100% of a harvested tree.

The material we purchase qualifies as EPP (Environmental Preferred Products) a preferred standard that ensures that manufactured products demonstrate environmentally friendly characteristics, and do not have negative impacts on human health or the surrounding environment.

The use of melamine in projects may allow the user to earn credits under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. LEED is an internationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. Points may be obtained under this system in the areas of recycled content and regional and local materials.

LEED credits you may be eligible for by purchasing Exact Furniture products include:

  • MR 4.1 Recycled Content
  • MR 4.2 Recycled Content
  • MR 5.1 Regional Materials
  • MR 5.2 Regional Materials
  • EQ 4.4 Indoor Environmental Quality-Low Emitting Materials

Please contact Exact Furniture sales@exactfurniture.com to discuss your project requirements and see how you can earn LEED credits with your Exact purchase.
