NTI Announces the Low-Cost HDMI Over IP Extender

Aurora, OH: Network Technologies Inc (NTI) announces the addition of the Low-Cost HDMI Over IP Extender that multicasts digital video and audio signals to one or more receivers up to 330 feet away using CAT5e/6 cable.

Each ST-IPHD-LC Low-Cost HDMI Over IP Extender consists of a local unit that connects to an HDMI source and a remote unit that connects to an HDMI display. The local and remote units can be connected together for a Point-to-Point connection via CATx or a Point-to-Many connection via a network switch. Support for multiple transmitters requires a managed network switch. Easily expandable, individual remote units can be purchased and connected to additional monitors.

Supporting HDTV resolutions to 1080p and computer resolutions to 1920x1200, the Low-Cost HDMI extender can transmit an HDMI signal over one CAT5e/6 cable up to 330 feet away. Plug-and-Play installation allows receivers to find the transmitters automatically on the same subnet for easy set up. Users can access the web interface to change the IP addresses of units, update firmware, and reset units to factory default settings. M-JPEG technology is used to process image compression on a fixed bandwidth. The extender supports 10/100 Ethernet connection, has a built-in default EDID table, and is HDCP compliant.

The Low-Cost HDMI Over IP Extender provides an ideal solution for digital signage applications as it can broadcast real-time HDMI video/audio to multiple display locations. Support for multiple transmitters requires a managed network switch with VLAN/IGMP support. Each VLAN acts as a separate HDMI Over IP Channel on the network. Manage switches can be cascaded up to three levels, allowing the farthest display to be located up to 1,000 feet away from the source device.

Available for immediate sale, the Low-Cost HDMI Over IP Extender costs $165 for both local and remote units, and each individual remote unit costs $95.
