Introduced in 2011, Carbonite quickly established itself as the world’s most popular mid-size production switcher with 1000’s in daily use today. Carbonite changed the production industry by setting a new price / performance standard that other manufacturers are still trying to emulate. Now in 2015 Ross is very proud to introduce the next generation of Carbonite. Carbonite Black is designed of course from the original Carbonite, but with more I/O choices and production power. The 3ME Carbonite Black was unveiled at NAB 2015 to an incredible reception (and orders), and at IBC2015 the entire Carbonite family is being re-launched with new panels and features while retaining its incredibly affordable price point. There are 6 new Carbonite Black panels in 1, 2 and 3 ME row layouts with 16, 24 and 32 source buttons. The new Carbonite Black 2RU frame provides an impressive 36 x 22 I/O as standard and can be equipped with 2 or 3 MEs. Carbonite Black is a key part of the new Ross production solutions and fully integrates with the new XPression Trackless Studio virtual set system. Carbonite now becomes the control surface for trackless virtual sets powered by XPression, and of course fully controls the XPression Clips production server for instant video playback. The new Ultrix compact routing platform provides seamless integration of HD and 4K quad link or 12G single links with the Carbonite I/O. Add to this to new media encoders for streaming or contribution, plus camera robotics, automated production, and newsroom systems, and you have a fully functioning – very high quality production system that is scalable and affordable – all completely integrated with the customizable DashBoard Control System.
